“Upset In a Corner” by Martin Newbold was one of the first poems I wrote. It was written to represent the struggles of parenting, but also the deep joy that children bring into a parent’s life. Beneath that, it carries another meaning: the loss of children through abduction by social services, and the pain left behind when a parent is pushed into silence, grief, and a corner.

Written into a song to address some of the most harrowing realities of the modern world, this song calls for awareness and action on issues such as human trafficking, child exploitation, and the need for justice and compassion for the most vulnerable members of society.

This was very first poem I wrote when I was 18 years old. IT took many years later for it to be turned into a video. As it had more meaning after my first child Emily.
